Abstract

Authoritarian parenting is a form of parenting that emphasizes parental supervision so that children are submissive and obedient. Parents who have an authoritarian parenting style are coercive, harsh and rigid where parents will make various rules that must be obeyed by their children without wanting to know the child's feelings. Parents will be emotional and angry if the child does something that is not in accordance with what the parents want. Authoritarian parenting is often considered a parenting style that can interfere with child development. Several research facts show that authoritarian parenting can have a negative impact on child development, but there are research results that authoritarian parenting can have a positive impact on children's moral development. Authoritarian parenting also has a positive impact on children's behavior if the rules made by parents are mandatory, such as praying, children will be diligent in worship and polite and obedient to their parents. Authoritarian parenting also has a negative impact if parents put too much pressure on children so that they become stubborn, unruly, and disobedient to their parents, this is because children feel limited in their freedom, forced and punish children if they are wrong so that children vent their feelings by acting according to their wishes. It is expected that parents can apply good parenting patterns according to the needs of the child so that the child's development can develop well, especially in the aspect of the child's moral development.
