Abstract

Learning is a crucial aspect of education, serving as the core of the teaching and learning process and involving interactions between teachers and students. In IPAS learning, students are encouraged to explore and engage directly, enabling them to better understand themselves and their surroundings while also developing skills to apply knowledge in daily life. The PBL model emphasizes students' active roles in learning, where teachers provide them with the freedom to find solutions or alternative problem-solving approaches. Consequently, students become accustomed to thinking critically and independently when facing various challenges. This study aims to describe the improvement of critical thinking skills through the implementation of the PBL learning model at MI Miftahul Huda Agom. The results indicate that the class average score increased from 45.71 in cycle I to 71.79 in cycle II. This improvement is supported by an N-Gain calculation of 0.5, categorized as moderate. The indicator of providing simple explanations increased from 51.79 to 76.79, while the indicator of developing basic skills rose from 39.29 to 64.29. Other indicators also showed improvement: drawing conclusions increased from 48.21 to 75, providing further explanations rose from 42.86 to 66.07, and strategizing and tactics improved from 46.43 to 76.79. Overall, this study demonstrates that the PBL learning model significantly enhances students' critical thinking skills. By allowing students to actively engage in problem-solving, they develop better analytical skills, logical reasoning, and decision-making abilities.
