Abstract

A learning approach that focuses on teachers (teacher-oriented) needs to be changed to a more student-centered approach (student-oriented). This research discusses the concept of natural tadabur and student independence, the application of learning models, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing the natural tadabur learning method to increase student independence in class VIII Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SMPN 2 Krui Pesisir Barat. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research using observation, interviews and documentation methods to collect data. The research results show that the initial stage of implementing the natural tadabur learning model at SMPN 2 Krui Pesisir Barat begins with the introduction of material related to natural phenomena. At the core stage, students are invited to directly explore the environment around the school or certain areas, observing natural phenomena that are relevant to the material inspired by the Qur'an: Preserving Nature, Protecting Life, and discussing its wisdom and meaning. The final stage of implementing this model includes individual and group reflection regarding the learning that has been carried out. Teachers play a role in guiding students to conclude the lessons learned, both in terms of understanding the material and in developing an attitude of independence
