Abstract

Islamic educational institution is not complete when the knowledge of religious educators (teachers) and employees are minimal. The religious culture in an educational institution should be emphasized, though the Islamic education institutions. Because the religious culture is a set of religious values that underlie behavior, traditions, customs, and symbols practiced teachers as educators in the School of Islam. The religious culture is a way of thinking and acting of school community which is based on religious values (diversity). Herein lies the critical role of management is the responsibility of the school principal as a manager in improving the professionalism of teachers in the religious. The religious culture in an educational institution still remains to be emphasized, despite the Islamic education institutions.

The purpose of this study was to; (1) know how religious culture that was developed in MTs Hasanuddin Bandar Lampung, (2) find out how the school management strategy in building a religious culture in MTs Hasanuddin Bandar Lampung

To achieve the above objective, qualitative research approach was used with this type of descriptive approach. There were three data collection techniques used in this study namely: observation, interview (interview), and documentation. The author here acts as observer in the observation. As for the data analysis the author used a variety of data collection techniques, namely of a lot of data collected from field notes, interview and documentation. Then grouped and organized so as to answer the problem formulation formulated by researcher.

The results showed that; (1) religious cultures developed in MTs Hasanuddin Bandar Lampung were: (a) sunnah prayer of Duha, (b) Reading rotibul haddad (dhikr), (c) Reading Qur'an, (d) a friendly attitude (smile, greetings). (2) Management strategies to develop a culture of religious schools in MTs Hasanuddin Bandar Lampung were: (a) Mutual communication, (b) habituation, (c) Appreciation of Islamic holidays, (d) Furudul 'ainiyah.
