Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explain the leadership role of the principal in developing the quality of education at Al Wafa Setu Junior High School, Bekasi Regency with the development of institutional authority. The method used in this research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Data obtained from interviews, observations and documentation.In general, the factors that support the implementation of school-based management in improving the quality of education at SMP Al Wafa Bekasi are: 1) Principal leadership, 2) the participation of educators and education staff, 3) the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure, 4) availability learning media and learning resources, 5) the participation of students to participate and be proactive in the implementation of the learning process in schools, 6) adequate financial support, both from community participation and from central and regional government budgets through school operational assistance funds (BOS). Based on the results of observations and research related to time, place and school conditions, school-based management can support school-based management that can improve the quality of education, but can also hinder the learning process with school-based management, therefore in improving the quality of education, the first thing to do is to improve the quality of education. all personnel involved in education in schools.
