Abstract

A country will progress if it has a good education, good education can occur if the teachers have good competence as well. An educator or teacher has a very important role in shaping the character and motivating students' interest in learning, so it is very important to improve the ability or competence of the teacher. Researchers used qualitative research methods. The primary data sources in this study were the Madrasah Principals, Teachers, and Students, while the secondary data sources came from madrasa administrative documents. Data collection techniques Researchers used observation, interviews and documentation. For data validation, the researcher used triangulation technique. The results of this study found that the management of the Madrasah Tsanawiyah in implementing the management functions of planning, organizing, mobilizing and supervising had been carried out well, including making activity plans and their budgets, organizing: dividing tasks to their subordinates, personnel about their duties and responsibilities, mobilizing: motivating and giving rewards and punishman as a reward and reprimand for the results of teacher performance, and supervision: conduct supervision and evaluation in all activities at the beginning of implementation, during implementation and after completion of activities. The management of the Madrasah Principal has been able to optimally improve the competence of teachers at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Banii Saalim, namely social competence and personality competence, but less than optimal in improving pedagogic competence and professional competence
