Abstract

The research problems in this study are: How is same-sex relationship perceived by community leaders in Sukamulya Subdistrict,  Lampung City, from the perspective of Islamic law? And what are the factors that influence the formation of community leaders’ views toward same-sex relationships in Sukamulya Subdistrict,Lampung City?

This research aims to identify the views of community leaders regarding same-sex relationships in Sukamulya Subdistrict, Lampung City, from the perspective of Islamic law, and to determine the factors that shape those views.

This study is categorized as field research and is descriptive in nature. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that community leaders believe the existence of same-sex individuals undermines the moral foundation of society. Such behavior, they argue, should be addressed more firmly because it is feared to influence the younger generation in Sukamulya. This behavior contradicts religious norms and violates human nature. Those engaging in same-sex relationships are considered deviating from normality and need to be treated seriously to prevent the spread of social problems. The factors influencing these views include (1) fear and concern that such deviant behavior may be imitated by children and adolescents, and (2) religious and moral considerations within the community.
