INTERNALISASI NILAI-NILAI AKHLAK MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN PAI BERBASIS KISAH (STORYTELLING) DISMP ISLAM ASSA' ADAH LAMPUNG TIMUR

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the internalization of moral values through storytelling-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMP Islam Assa’adah Lampung Timur. The study is motivated by the need for an effective method to instill moral values in students amid modern challenges that influence their character development. Storytelling is regarded as a relevant approach because Islamic stories contain strong educational values and are capable of touching students’ emotional aspects. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Research informants included PAI teachers, the school principal, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation.

The findings show that storytelling effectively enhances students’ understanding of moral values such as honesty, patience, responsibility, and social care. PAI teachers narrate stories from the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic history in an engaging manner, enabling students to understand and remember the moral lessons more easily. Storytelling also creates strong affective impacts by touching students’ emotions and motivating them to improve their behavior. Reflection and discussion activities after storytelling sessions help students connect the values with their real-life experiences, thus supporting the internalization process.

Furthermore, the study reveals positive behavioral changes among students, including improved politeness, cooperation, and discipline in school activities. However, some challenges were identified, such as limited instructional time and differences in students’ ability to internalize values. Despite these challenges, storytelling remains effective because it integrates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects simultaneously. This study concludes that storytelling-based PAI learning is a highly appropriate approach for strengthening moral education at the junior high school level.
