Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the congregational prayer (shalat berjama’ah) program and its role in shaping the character of seventh-grade students at SMP Insan Mandiri Bandar Lampung. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the congregational prayer program is carried out in a structured manner through daily habituation, teacher supervision, and direct guidance from homeroom teachers and Islamic Education instructors. The program not only focuses on ritual aspects of worship but also instills values of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and respect toward others. Observations indicate positive behavioral changes among students, including improved compliance with school rules, strengthened religious habits, and enhanced social unity among peers. Interviews with teachers and students confirm that the congregational prayer activities significantly contribute to developing students’ religious and social character. The study concludes that the implementation of the congregational prayer program is an effective strategy for shaping the character of seventh-grade students, especially through consistent habituation and role modeling within the school environment.
