KEPEMIMPINAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DISEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the leadership of the principal at SMP IT Khanzanah Kebajikan Palembang. The research design used is qualitative research. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the Leadership of the Head of SMP IT Khazanah Kebajikan Palembang (1) in making a decision by the school principal is not only unilateral, but considers the size of the effect resulting from the decision, (2) in motivating, the principal provide suggestions to take part in outside activities such as workshops, discussions, seminars organized by certain parties that have something to do with increasing competence as a teacher/educator. (3). In communication, school principals carry out 2 types of communication, namely Top - Down and Bottom - Up, meaning communication from superiors to subordinates and from subordinates to superiors, this is done to make it easier to overcome a problem whether it occurs above or below. (4) In controlling subordinates, school principals often act in a firm tone and even take firm action against their subordinates who do not follow the rules and programs that have been agreed upon or made, so that tasks can be completed properly. (5) The responsibility imposed by the leader is greater than that of his subordinates, this can be seen from what the principal has done, namely being responsible for any problems that occur at school. (6) In controlling emotions, as a school principal, he always does Tabayyun (asking for an explanation/discussion), if a problem occurs or is not according to his will, he does not take anarchic and emotional actions. Of the six abilities that a school principal must have as a leader, what stands out from the leadership of the head of SMP IT Khazanah Kebajikan Palembang is in communication skills and responsibility
