Abstract

The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers is quite influential in improving the quality of learning. Those who have competence in teaching, it is possible that they will be able to arouse the interest in learning their students in participating in teaching and learning activities. However, on the contrary, if the teacher lacks competence, it will cause obstacles in the process of teaching and learning activities in the classroom, because the teacher will be faced with situations and conditions that are less conducive, because of the students who have heterogeneous attitudes and behaviors in receiving lessons. In this study, researchers found something different / unique in one school in Kalirejo, namely SDIT Insan Qurani, teachers carry out their roles with portions that are not the same as other schools and the interests of students are good. . The purpose of this study is to know and understand the role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in increasing student interest in Islamic Religious Education subjects. In this study, it used qualitative research methods, which were located at SDIT Insan Qurani Poncowarno Kec. Kalirejo, Central Lampung Regency, Bandar Lampung. Researchers conducted structured interviews and unstructured interviews with resource persons (Islamic Religious Education teachers) supported by documentation data and direct observation. As a finding in this study, about the review of the role of teachers in increasing student interest in PAI subjects, it can be concluded that three roles, namely teachers as educators, coaches and supervisors that have been carried out, prove thatThe role of the teacher greatly influences the increasing interest of students in learning PAI, at SDIT Insan Qurani Poncowarno Kec. Kalirejo, Central Lampung Regency. This school runs two (2) curricula, namely the general curriculum and the special curriculum (Islamic / religious) which has a minimum memorization target of 3 juz when graduating, daily worship practice activities such as ablution, dhuha prayer, memorized muroja'ah, congregational dzuhur prayer, as well as azan but students still have an interest in learning PAI well. This means that with the role of the teacher being carried out properly, it can affect students' interest in learning PAI even though the content of the material is increased, so it is necessary to increase pai learning time in elementary schools, especially in SDIT
