Abstract

This research aims to reveal and analyze the work ethic of the principal of South Indralaya 1 State High School (SMA) and its impact on school performance. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers, school staff, and direct observations in the school environment. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and interpretive techniques. The research results show that the work ethic of the principal at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan has a significant role in influencing the work climate, motivation and performance of teachers and school staff. Factors such as leadership, integrity, dedication, and commitment to the school's vision and mission are key elements in forming a strong work ethic. It was also found that a school principal's good work ethic was positively correlated with student academic achievement, discipline, and the school's image in society. The implication of this research is the important role of the principal in forming a productive work culture and improving the quality of education at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan. This study can provide guidance for education stakeholders to improve the quality of school leadership and management to achieve better learning goals.
