Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the supervisory management of school principals in improving the competency of Islamic Religious Education teachers. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research, namely a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from the people and actors being observed. Data collection techniques in this research are interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis procedure used in this research is qualitative analysis. Based on the findings of the analysis and discussion, the results of this research can be concluded that the state of competence of religion teachers at SMKN 1 Bakauheni is as follows: Religion teachers at SMKN 1 Bakauheni have fulfilled pedagogical competence, the religion teachers have personalities who should be role models for their students, The aspect of professional competence is that religion teachers at SMKN 1 Bakauheni are still below the teacher competency standard, only a small number of teachers who apply it have skills in socialization. Efforts made by religious teachers and school principals to improve their competence are as follows: attending training, or MGMP subject teacher deliberations also supported by the school, developing their own personality, providing training and training for each teacher to increase their professionalism, being social with polite behavior . Supporting and inhibiting factors for efforts to increase the competence of religion teachers at SMKN 1 Bakauheni: Supporting efforts to increase teacher competence with competency tests. Factors that hinder the implementation of efforts to improve the competency of religion teachers at SMKN 1 Bakauheni are the lack of assistance for teachers to continue their Bachelor of Education education, and opportunities for teachers to take part in training, workshops, MGMP (subject teachers' meetings).
