In this research, the researcher used a qualitative method with a naturalistic approach which shows that the implementation of the research occurs naturally, as it is, in a normal situation where circumstances and conditions are not manipulated, emphasizing natural descriptions. Collecting data or capturing phenomena is carried out from reasonable conditions which is known as "natural and natural sampling." Based on data findings in the field, the professionalism of PAI teachers at Al-Falah Islamic Middle School on Panggung Island, Pulau Panggung District, Tanggamus Regency is described in terms of pedagogical abilities; namely the teacher's ability to prepare lesson plans, syllabus, prota and promissory notes, the ability to improvise learning methods and the ability to assess student learning outcomes through class-based assessments. Personality abilities; described by instilling self-discipline and responsibility in tasks. Social abilities; described by good communication relationships with the school principal, colleagues, parents and participation in social activities. Meanwhile, professional abilities; described by the ability to master the field of study seen from the educational background of teachers who have academic qualifications and teachers who teach according to their expertise and major, the ability to understand students. The research results show that PAI teachers at Al-Falah Islamic Middle School Panggung Island, Pulau Panggung District Tanggamus Regency has implemented the role of professionalism well. However, it would be better if these competencies need to be improved so that the quality of student output is better.
