Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the principal's management in improving the function of teachers at SMA N 1 Batanghari. This research is a qualitative research by examining the condition of natural objects, where the researcher is the key instrument, the sampling of data sources is done by purposive sampling, the collection technique is by triangulation, the data analysis is inductive/qualitative in nature, and the research results emphasize meaning. The results of this study are that the principal's management in improving the function of teachers at SMA N 1 Batanghari is carried out by providing opportunities for teachers to carry out self-development such as continuing their education to Masters (S2), attending curriculum 2013 training, targeting teacher certification and teacher adaptation to education. The school principal organizes to improve the function of teachers at SMA N 1 Batanghari, namely the division of tasks is offered to each personnel according to their abilities. In the aspect of mobilizing the school principal in the form of encouragement, communication and coordination for each personnel to work, even though it does not match the vision and limited facilities. The school principal supervises not being evaluated regularly. The obstacle for the principal in improving the function of teachers at SMA N 1 Batanghari is that not all teachers are civil servants, which affects their welfare and professionalism. Then the quality and quantity of practicum media/tools is still limited and the budget does not yet support school operations and there are few opportunities to attend training.
