Abstract

Education carried out in every educational unit, from basic education to higher education, even in non-formal and informal institutions, should be able to shape the personalities of students and society in general. However, in reality the quality of education, especially the quality of educational output, is still low when compared with educational output in other countries, both in Asia and the Asian region. The low quality of education requires comprehensive handling, because in the life of a nation, education plays a very important role in ensuring the survival of the State and nation, as well as a vehicle for improving and developing the quality of resources. human Considering the importance of a teacher's professionalism, research is needed on the professionalism of teachers, especially Islamic Religious Education teachers. This research aims not only to determine teacher professionalism, but also to find out the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers to improve learning achievement and to find and formulate solutions to improve student learning achievement. This research uses qualitative methods with a pedagogical and naturalistic approach which shows that the implementation of research occurs naturally, as it is, in normal situations where circumstances and conditions are not manipulated, emphasizing natural descriptions. Based on data findings in the field, teacher professionalism is described in pedagogical competence; namely the teacher's ability to prepare lesson plans, syllabus, prota and promissory notes, the ability to improvise learning methods and the ability to assess student learning outcomes through class-based assessments. Regarding the factors that support the professionalism of Islamic religious education teachers, these are the implementation of madrasa-based management, the establishment of neat administrative order, and the inclusion of PAI teachers in various training as an effort to increase teacher professionalism.
