Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation of the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education teachers in creating a culture of reading the Koran at SMP Negeri 1 Terusan Nunyai Bandar Sakti. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Islamic Religious Education teachers use strategies such as using relevant reading materials, forming Al-Qur'an reading groups, and organizing activities related to reading the Al-Qur'an. The results showed that the implementation of this strategy was successful in creating a strong Al-Qur'an reading culture in schools. Students demonstrated increased interest and skills in reading the Qur'an, as well as a better understanding of Islamic teachings. In addition, students also develop Islamic attitudes and behaviors, such as discipline, patience, and respect for the Qur'an. This study shows that the strategy used by Islamic Religious Education teachers is effective in achieving the goal of establishing a reading culture of the Koran at SMP Negeri 1 Terusan Nunyai Bandar Sakti.
