The competency of principal’s managerial skill is a crucial and strategic factor in improving the quality and the progress of the school. It is expected to the principal to make the school effective. The principal has powerful role in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The result of the research are: 1) the competency of principal’s managerial skill in planning the effective school meets the criteria of the effective school, the competency of principal’s managerial skill in organizing appropriates the procedure, 2) the competency of principal’s managerial skill in leading the effective schoolruns well, the competency of principal’s managerial skill in controlling the effective school is through monitoring and evaluating. Among the competency of principal’s managerial skills, it shows that the principal of MTs Hidayatul Mubtadiin Jati Agung is able to create the effective school, since it has implemented the indicator of the effective school which refers to input, process, output and outcome of the school
