PERAN KOMITE DALAM MENINGKATKAN MUTU PENDIDIKAN

Abstract

The school committee is an institution that plays a strategic role in supporting the improvement of educational quality in educational institutions. The existence of a school committee does not only function as an advisory body but also acts as a mediator between schools, parents, and the community in efforts to improve the quality of educational implementation. This study aims to analyze the role of the school committee in improving the quality of education and to identify the forms of contributions provided in supporting educational activities in schools. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation involving school principals, committee members, and other related parties. The results of the study indicate that the school committee plays an important role in improving the quality of education through several main functions, namely as an advisory body in school policy making, as a supporter in providing educational facilities and infrastructure, as a controller in monitoring the implementation of school programs, and as a mediator between schools and the community. The school committee also contributes to supporting learning activities, developing school programs, and strengthening community participation in education. However, several obstacles are still found, such as the limited understanding of committee members regarding their duties and functions, as well as the lack of optimal coordination between the school and the committee. Through good cooperation between the school committee, school management, and the community, it is expected that a more effective educational system can be created and the quality of education can be improved sustainably.
