Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students’ prayer discipline in Rawa Selapan, Candipuro District, during the 2025/2026 academic year. The research is motivated by the low level of students’ awareness and consistency in performing obligatory prayers, both at school and at home. As the main facilitator of spiritual development, PAI teachers hold a strategic role in enhancing students’ understanding, discipline, and ability to practice prayer through various approaches, such as instructional activities, habituation programs, and exemplary behavior. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain an in-depth understanding of the teacher’s strategies, forms of guidance, and the supporting and inhibiting factors. The findings reveal that the teacher’s efforts are carried out through three main aspects: classroom-based teaching focusing on prayer knowledge, habituation programs such as congregational prayers, and teacher modeling of consistent worship practices. In addition, support from parents and the school environment plays a significant role in the success of prayer cultivation. This study concludes that optimizing the role of PAI teachers can effectively improve students’ religious attitudes, discipline, and responsibility in performing daily prayers.
