Penerapan Metode Bermain Peran dalam Pembelajaran PAI Kelas IV SDN 2 Tarahan Lampung Selatan

This study evaluates the implementation of role-play instructional strategy in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for fourth-grade students at SDN 2 Tarahan, Dusun Sinar Laut, Lampung Selatan Regency during the 2025/2026 academic year. The objectives are to (1) describe how role-play is implemented in PAI lessons, (2) assess its effects on students’ spiritual competencies and social attitudes (e.g., empathy, religious value comprehension, and confidence in worship), and (3) identify facilitating and inhibiting factors. The research uses an explanatory mixed-methods design: a quantitative pretest–posttest quasi-experimental phase with 60 students (30 intervention, 30 control) employing attitude scales and performance observation; and a qualitative phase consisting of in-depth interviews with six teachers and participant observation over eight role-play sessions. Results indicate a statistically significant improvement in PAI knowledge and religious attitude indicators for the intervention group compared to the control group (p<0.05). Qualitative findings reveal that role-play boosts student motivation, religious communication skills, and peer empathy; primary constraints include limited instructional time and teachers’ readiness to design pedagogical scenarios. Practical recommendations include integrating role-play into lesson plans, providing teacher training for script development, and allocating extracurricular time for rehearsal.
