Abstract

The implementation of project-based learning (PBL) approach has garnered attention in enhancing English speaking skills among secondary school students. This study investigates the effectiveness of PBL in improving English speaking proficiency in a secondary school setting. Through qualitative analysis, data was collected from classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of student projects. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL positively impacts students' engagement, speaking abilities, and content understanding. Results suggest an increase in student participation and enthusiasm for learning, with PBL providing authentic contexts for language practice. Additionally, students demonstrated improvement in oral communication skills through active involvement in discussions, presentations, and group activities. Furthermore, PBL facilitated a deeper understanding of subject matter as students connected theoretical concepts to real-world applications within their projects. Overall, the study underscores the effectiveness of PBL as a pedagogical approach for enhancing English speaking proficiency in secondary education.
