Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model: Peer Tutoring in improving student involvement and grasp of fundamental principles in Islamic Education. Employing a qualitative methodology, data was gathered through classroom observations, interviews, and student evaluations. Findings indicate a notable enhancement in student engagement and comprehension subsequent to the implementation of the Peer Tutoring approach. Initially, students displayed passive learning tendencies, but they demonstrated heightened participation in discussions, collaboration, and active involvement in learning activities following the intervention. Interactions among peers facilitated deeper comprehension and meaningful learning experiences. Additionally, the tutors, who possessed advanced knowledge of Islamic concepts, played a crucial role in guiding and clarifying doubts for their peers. Teachers acted as facilitators, ensuring a conducive learning environment and offering necessary assistance. Despite encountering challenges such as effective tutor selection, time management, and technology integration, adequate support and training for teachers can help overcome these hurdles. In summary, this study contributes to the understanding of the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model: Peer Tutoring in promoting student engagement and comprehension in Islamic Education, providing valuable insights for future educational strategies
