PENGARUH PENERAPAN MANAJEMEN RISIKO TERHADAP KINERJA BANK PEMBIAYAAN RAKYAT SYARIAH (STUDI PADA BPRS SE-KOTA BANDAR LAMPUNG)

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of risk management implementation on the performance of Islamic Rural Banks (Bank Pembiayaan Rakyat Syariah – BPRS) in Bandar Lampung City. Risk management is a crucial component in Islamic banking operations, as it ensures financial stability, compliance with sharia principles, and sustainable organizational performance. The increasing complexity of financial risks faced by BPRS, including credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, and compliance risk, necessitates the effective implementation of risk management practices. This research employs a quantitative approach using primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to management and employees of BPRS operating in Bandar Lampung City. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, and data were analyzed using statistical methods, including validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. Bank performance was measured using both financial and non-financial indicators, such as profitability, asset quality, efficiency, and service quality. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of risk management has a positive and significant effect on the performance of Islamic Rural Banks in Bandar Lampung City. Each dimension of risk management contributes to improving operational efficiency, reducing potential losses, and enhancing overall bank performance. These findings suggest that effective risk management practices play a strategic role in strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of BPRS in a dynamic financial environment. Therefore, this study recommends that BPRS continuously improve their risk management systems through employee training, strengthening internal control mechanisms, and enhancing compliance with sharia and regulatory standards. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of Islamic banking management practices and serve as a reference for policymakers and future researchers in the field of Islamic finance.
