Abstract

This research is motivated by concerns that so
far, science learning at the Ibtidaiyah Madrasah level is
felt to be one of the subjects that is difficult for students
to understand. This is due to the lack of teacher skills in
science learning, the strategies used are conventional,
learning achievement is less increased, learning media is
less interesting and interactive, due to one of the causes
of low student learning motivation. To follow up on the
problem of science learning at the MI level, it is necessary
to take action, one alternative that can be used is the
application of a snowball throwing type cooperative
learning model. The type of research used is classroom
action research (PTK). with researchers as teachers. The
purpose of the study was to determine the motivation to
learn science in MI AL-khairiyah students. The
formulation of the research problem is whether the
application of the snowball throwing type cooperative
learning model can increase the learning motivation of
students in science class IV subjects at MI AL-khairiyah.
The data collection techniques used in this study were
questionnaires, observations, interviews and
documentation. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques
used in this action research use descriptive quantitative.
The hypothesis of action through the application of a
snowball throwing type cooperative lerning learning
model can increase the learning motivation of learners in
science subjects.
The results of the study showed that the snowball
throwing type of cooperative learning model can increase
the motivation to learn science class IV AT MI AL-
TARBIYAH JURNAL ; JURNAL KEGURUAN DAN ILMU PENDIDIKAN
KHAIRIYAH SINAR BANTEN Academic Year
2015/2016. It can be seen from the results of the action of
cycle I (Motivation score = 69.5% (including the category
is quite good); in cycle II (Motivation score = 78.57%
(including good category); the score difference between
cycle I and cycle II was 10.7%. Thus, it can be concluded
that the snowball throwing type of cooperative learning
model can increase the motivation to learn science for
grade IV students at MI AL-Khairiyah on the material of
human, animal and plant organs.
