Abstract

Religious moderation is a balanced and moderate attitude and behavior towards religion, avoiding extremism on both the right and left. Religious moderation upholds the values of tolerance, harmony, and peace. Madrasah is one of the educational institutions that plays a crucial role in the implementation of religious moderation. Madrasah has the potential to instill the values of religious moderation in students from an early age. This research aims to analyze the implementation strategies of religious moderation in Islamic high schools (madrasah aliyah). The research utilizes a qualitative descriptive research method. Primary data is obtained through in-depth interviews with informants, including the head of the madrasah, Islamic studies teachers, and students. Secondary data is gathered from madrasah documents, journals, and scholarly articles. The research results indicate that the implementation strategies of religious moderation in madrasah aliyah can be categorized into two types: structural strategies and non-structural strategies. The implementation of religious moderation in madrasah aliyah is crucial due to the significant role madrasah plays in shaping the character of students. Madrasah can serve as a place for students to learn about the values of religious moderation, such as tolerance, harmony, and peace.
