KORELASI ANTARA KEDISIPLINAN IBADAH SHALAT DENGAN AKHLAK SISWA KELAS VII DI MTS MIFTAHUL ULUM KEC. TANJUNG SENANG

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between discipline in performing prayers and the morals of grade VII students at MTs Miftahul Ulum, Tanjung Senang District. The background of this study is the phenomenon of weakening morals of adolescents, one of which is suspected to be due to the lack of discipline in performing worship, especially prayer as a pillar of religion. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a correlational study type, where data is obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of students, Islamic religious education teachers, and homeroom teachers. Data analysis techniques are carried out descriptively-qualitatively with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity is strengthened by triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between discipline in performing prayers and the quality of students' morals. Students who show high discipline in performing prayers, both individually and in congregation, tend to have a more polite, responsible attitude, and respect for teachers and fellow friends. Conversely, students who are less consistent in performing prayers show a tendency towards behavior that does not reflect Islamic morals. This finding confirms that consistent prayer habits can contribute positively to the formation of students' character and morals. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to strengthen students' spiritual development programs as part of a sustainable character education strategy.
