PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS TEKS UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPOSISI SISWA KELAS 5 SD IT BAHRUL ULUM LAWANG WETAN

Abstract

This study aims to improve the exposition writing skills of fifth-grade students at SD IT Bahrul Ulum Lawang Wetan through the implementation of a text-based learning model. The study was motivated by the low writing abilities of students, particularly in formulating a thesis, developing arguments, and presenting appropriate reiteration. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and writing tests. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ understanding of exposition text structure and their ability to develop ideas logically. In the first cycle, students began to identify essential components of exposition text, although their argumentation skills were still limited. In the second cycle, students demonstrated substantial improvement, marked by the ability to construct relevant arguments, use more varied vocabulary, and produce more coherent paragraphs. Additionally, student motivation increased due to the systematic learning stages, ranging from text analysis to independent writing. Overall, the study concludes that the text-based learning model is effective in improving students’ exposition writing skills and can serve as an alternative strategy in Indonesian language instruction at the elementary school level.
