This study aims to describe the implementation of the Active, Creative, Effective, and Joyful Learning (PAKEM) model in improving the learning achievement of eighth-grade students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at MTs Al Ishlah Sukadamai, South Lampung Regency. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that PAKEM was implemented through participatory learning activities, the use of varied instructional media, the application of discussion, demonstration, questioning methods, and task assignments based on real-life experiences. Teachers acted as facilitators who created an interactive and enjoyable classroom atmosphere, increasing student motivation, participation, and comprehension of Islamic education material. Learning outcome data indicate a significant improvement in students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities after the implementation of PAKEM. The study concludes that PAKEM is an effective instructional strategy for enhancing student achievement in Islamic Religious Education, particularly at the junior secondary level.
