Abstract

In this study, the researcher wanted to see the leadership process implemented by the principal in improving teacher discipline. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of teacher discipline and to understand the process of implementing the principal's leadership in improving teacher discipline.This study used a qualitative research method. The data sources for this study were the principal, three teachers, and two students. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out by data reduction, data display, and data verification.The results of this study showed that the principal directed teachers in improving discipline by:Supervising teacher attendance in the morning Always providing directions, both in meetings and outside of meetings The principal also guided teachers in improving discipline through regulations:Gathering teachers in the meeting room and providing directions Issuing regulations Providing direct reprimands to teachers who violate the regulations The principal also set a good example for teachers by:Arriving early at school to monitor teacher punctuality Updating regulations Maintaining good relationships with all teachers Serving as a role model Providing motivation during meetings Helping teachers who experience difficulties/problems in their teachingTaking immediate action against teachers who violate the regulations Preparing supporting facilities needed to improve teacher discipline, such as using fingerprint attendance for teachers.
