This study investigates the efficacy of the Cooperative Learning Model: Peer Tutoring in enhancing student engagement and comprehension of fundamental concepts in Islamic Education. Through a qualitative approach, data was collected via classroom observations, interviews, and student assessments. Results reveal a significant improvement in student participation and understanding following the implementation of the Peer Tutoring model. Prior to the intervention, students demonstrated passive learning behaviors; however, they exhibited increased involvement in discussions, collaboration, and active participation in learning activities post-implementation. The interaction among peers facilitated deeper understanding and meaningful learning experiences. Furthermore, the role of tutors, who possessed advanced knowledge of Islamic concepts, was instrumental in providing guidance and clarification to peers. Teachers played a vital role as facilitators, ensuring a conducive learning environment and providing necessary support. Despite challenges such as effective tutor selection, time management, and technology integration, adequate support and training for teachers can mitigate these obstacles. Overall, this research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model: Peer Tutoring in fostering student engagement and comprehension in Islamic Education, offering insights for future educational strategies.
