Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) holds a pivotal role in the educational systems of many countries with predominantly Muslim populations. However, the profound utilization of Islamic literature as a learning resource within the context of IRE remains largely unexplored. Islamic literature embodies a vast potential as a learning tool capable of inspiring, imparting moral values, and conveying profound Islamic messages. This study aims to delve into the utilization of Islamic literature as a learning resource in the realm of IRE.

The significance of this study lies in its exploration of how Islamic literature can enrich the teaching and learning experiences within IRE. Islamic literature, ranging from poetry to classical texts, offers a diverse array of themes and narratives that resonate with everyday life, including morality, ethics, justice, and spirituality. Incorporating Islamic literature into the curriculum can foster deeper discussions and reflections on Islamic values and principles, thereby enhancing students' understanding of Islam and its cultural heritage.

By embracing Islamic literature as a learning resource, IRE classes can become more engaging, meaningful, and relevant to students' lives. Furthermore, the utilization of Islamic literature can encourage critical thinking, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of Islamic teachings. Through analysis and interpretation of literary works, students can develop analytical skills while gaining insights into the diverse perspectives within Islam.

This study underscores the importance of further exploration into the integration of Islamic literature within IRE curricula. By doing so, educators can unlock the transformative potential of literature in enhancing religious education. Moreover, it highlights the need for educational policymakers to recognize and support the incorporation of diverse learning resources, including Islamic literature, to create inclusive and dynamic learning environments. Ultimately, this research contributes to the advancement of pedagogical approaches in IRE, enriching students' learning experiences and fostering a deeper appreciation of Islamic culture and values.
