Abstract

In the world of education, the teacher is an
educator, guide, and creates a conducive and pleasant
learning atmosphere. In fact, at this time there are still
many teachers who carry out learning in the field of Social
Sciences (IPS) using conventional methods, in situations
like this it will make learning less memorable for students.
It can be known that in social studies subjects there are still
many students whose learning outcomes have not been
completed and are still low. ToIt is used Word Square
learning model in the learning process.
The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence
the application of the word square learning model has on
the learning outcomes of students in social studies subjects,
compared to students who use conventional methods. This
research was conducted at MIN 11 Bandar Lampung for
the 2022/2023 school year. The research method used in
this study is quasi-experimental with true experimental
design. Sampling was carried out using probability
sampling techniques, which involved 50 students as
samples. The first sample was 25 students for the
experimental class, and the second sample was 25 students
for the control class. The research data was obtained from
the results of the pretest and posttest, which were in the
form of multiple-choice questions totaling 20 questions.
Data analysis of both groups using t-test with the help of
SPSS 20. The results of data analysis show that the average
score of social studies learning outcomes of class IV A
students taught with the word square learning model is
81.20, and the average score of social studies learning
outcomes of grade IV B students given learning using
conventional methods is 73.00 with a calculated score<

ttabel (2,063 < 6,718 ≥ 2,063), with a significant level of
0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). This shows that there is an influence
of the word square learning model on student social studies
