Abstract

Low student learning outcomes are a manifestation of
various problems that arise from learning activities. Low
learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education lessons were
marked by 37.94% of students who did not reach the Minimum
Completeness Criteria (KKM). The methods used have varied,
namely by using the lecture method, discussion method, and
question and answer method, but the results have not been
maximized. Students tend to be passive, only a small percentage
of students are active in participating in learning activities.
Based on these problems, the author made efforts to improve the
learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education for grade VIII
students of SMP Negeri 5 Metro for the 2017/2018 academic
year as many as 29 students by applying the Team Game
Tournament (TGT) method. This research is Classroom Action
Research (PTK), researchers act as educators and subject
educators as observers. Learning is carried out for 2 cycles with
6 meetings. The data collection method uses written tests,
observation sheets to observe student activities and
documentation methods, as well as interviews
Based on the results of the analysis of the study, it can be seen
that with the application of the Team Game Tournament (TGT)
method, the learning outcomes of students have increased from
cycle I to cycle II. Cycle I student learning outcomes achieved
65% completeness in cycle II reaching 82.75%. Based on the
results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the application
of the Team Game Tournament (TGT) method can improve
student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI)
subjects. This increase is an implication of increased student
learning activities. Educators are satisfied with the application
of the Team Game Tournament (TGT) method, and students feel
more enthusiastic in participating in learning. Researchers
suggest that schools should motivate educators to be able to
